NEW ORLEANS (WHAS11) -- It happened twice in two days in the New Orleans area -- mothers were arrested, accused of going too far to defend their children.

In Chalmette, a woman was charged with pulling a stun gun on a teen in a high school gym and in Belle Chasse, a mother was accused of threatening a sixth-grader on a school bus.

Sayra Smith said her fifth-grade daughter was bullied on a school bus and the driver did nothing. She decided to take matters into her own hands.

Sheriff deputies sid Smith threatened the sixth-grader and yelled profanities at the driver after he repeatedly asked her to get off the bus.

Smith was charged with trespassing on a school bus and disturbing the peace.
