LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — A University of Kentucky College of Law graduate has been named a Legend of the Law.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/14X5hJg) reports the honor was bestowed on Harlan native Michael Wilder during a recent ceremony at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. Wilder, who graduated from the UK College of Law in 1978, was among 10 lawyers who received a Burton Award in recognition of their expertise and their work.

Wilder is the general counsel and secretary at Marathon Petroleum Corporation. He oversees the legal department, which includes about 80 employees.

Although successful now, Wilder dropped out of college the first time he attended and drifted a while before finding his passion. He says he hopes his story can inspire others to follow their passion, noting that success can follow.
