HINDMAN, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed a new judge-executive for Knott County.
The action comes after former Judge-Executive Randy Thompson was removed from office after being convicted of conspiring to buy votes and being sent to prison to serve a 40-month sentence.
WYMT-TV reports (bit.ly/X19IS6) Zach Weinberg will fill the post for the rest of Thompson's term, which is set to expire in 2014.
Magistrate Jamie Mosley served in the position briefly between the time when Thompson was removed from office in mid-March and when Beshear made the appointment on Thursday.
