LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The University of Louisville says retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens will be awarded the 2013 Brandeis Medal.
The university's Louis D. Brandeis School of Law awards the honor to those who have personified the qualities of personal freedom, concern for the disadvantaged and public service. Some past recipients include Harry Blackmun, Sandra Day O'Conner and Janet Reno.
UofL interim law school dean Susan Duncan said in a statement that Justice Brandeis and Justice Stevens have similar legacies.
The award ceremony will take place on April 18 at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in Louisville.
