Greenup County man hit by stray bullet, survived

ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police say a Greenup County man was getting ready to leave for church when he was shot in the back.

Investigators say the bullet came through a rear wall of Kenneth Sparks' home and was apparently a stray shot.

The 29-year-old Sparks was in stable condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia after the incident which occurred around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

The shot apparently came from the Happy Ridge area. The shooter wasn't immediately known.
