FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A perennial proposal to create a system of public financing for Supreme Court races has gotten a second vote and passed in a House committee.
Democratic state Rep. Jim Wayne of Louisville said the legislation would remove any questions that Kentucky's top court might be influenced by private campaign donors. In Kentucky, Supreme Court justices are elected.
The House Appropriations and Revenue Committee voted down the measure on Tuesday afternoon but reconsidered that vote Tuesday evening, sending it to the full House for consideration.
