PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police are investigating the drowning of a barge worker in the Mississippi River.
The Paducah Sun (http://bit.ly/XKGnta ) reports Jeffrey L. Casey of Paducah was using a frost-covered rope to help him transfer from one barge to another early Tuesday when he slipped and fell into the river. Police say he was swept underneath a barge and was pulled from the river after resurfacing.
The Carlisle County coroner said Casey died at the scene.
