HOUSTON -– Two girls who took photos with a stolen iPhone that automatically posted their faces to the victim’s online account are in custody, Houston police said Friday.
They were tracked down after a story about them ran on KHOU 11 News, a sister station of WHAS11.
Police said the girls are both minors, so their identities aren’t being released. Neither has confessed to actually stealing the iPhone that was found in their possession.
The victim, Chau Nguyen, was at the Galleria’s Hello Kitty store with her children days ago when she put her iPhone in her stroller pocket. Within seconds, it was gone.
Nguyen was later surprised to find new photos of strangers automatically posting to her online iCloud account.
Nguyen used her iPhone tracker, which traced the phone to Allen Parkway Village near downtown.
