BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Western Kentucky University and the city of Bowling Green are discussing transferring ownership to portions of several streets near campus that could result in lower traffic speeds and other changes.

The agreement goes before the city Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.

The Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/WMjvb5 ) the agreement would transfer ownership and maintenance responsibilities for a portion of the streets between College Heights Boulevard and Regents Avenue from the city to the university, but requires a portion of the streets to remain open for public use.

The agreement also states that any change to a one-way design on the road would require city approval.

If the agreement is approved, the first phase of the project should begin in the summer with new lighting.
