LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A bridge over the Ohio River connecting Louisville and Jeffersonville, Ind., is set to open Thursday morning.

Waterfront Development Corp. Executive Director David Karen told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/WJZa9I ) that the Big Four Bridge may undergo some "fine tuning," opening, but the span is ready for pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Jeffersonville, Ind., Mayor Mike Moore will preside at an informal ceremony Thursday.

Officials plan a dedication after the Indiana approach in Jeffersonville is completed.

The work on the Kentucky side is being completed with a $12 million state appropriation. The Indiana ramp under construction has an estimated cost of $10 million.

The bridge opened in 1895 and was named for the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway Co. The last train crossed in the 1960s
