CORBIN, Ky. (AP) — Police say an eastern Kentucky man who was severely beaten last month has died from his injuries and another man has been charged with murder.
WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/10YAX2i) reports 35-year-old Samuel Plotnick also faces charges on menacing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assault charges related to the beating on Dec. 15. Police say the victim, 55-year-old Jimmy Dean Peace, was being treated for his injuries at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, but died late Wednesday.
The Whitley County sheriff said Peace suffered injuries to his head and abdomen.
The case is set to go to the Whitley County grand jury on Jan. 7.
Plotnick is being held on a $100,000 cash bond at the Whitley County jail, which did not have information on whether he had an attorney.
