RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — The Citizens Foster Care Review boards serving Fayette, Jessamine and Madison counties are seeking volunteers.
The volunteers review cases of children in foster care to ensure they are placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
According to a release by Frankfort's Administrative Office of the Courts reported in the Richmond Register () volunteers are not required to reside in the county where a board meets.
Volunteer must complete a six-hour training session and undergo a background check.
The Kentucky General Assembly created the review boards in 1982 as a way to decrease the time children spend in foster care.
Approximately 800 volunteers across the state serve as members of the boards.
