OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) — Brescia University has purchased the former downtown Owensboro branch of Fifth Third Bank and plans to use the facility to deal with some growing pains.
University President Rev. Larry Hostetter told the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer (http://bit.ly/Vmbzxg ) that some business offices, including financial aid, the registrar and the finance officer, will be in the new building.
The university paid Fifth Third $350,000 for the two-story, 12,000-square-foot building and parking lot.
The number of Brescia's undergraduate degree-seeking students rose to 788 in the fall, the highest since the fall of 1977. The total student head count was 870, and 340 of those were online students. The numbers also represent the largest freshman class since 1977.
Brescia will spend the spring getting its new building ready and move into it in the summer.
