CLEARFIELD, Ky. (AP) — Donations are being sought for an eastern Kentucky family devastated by fire.
The blaze early Thursday in Rowan County left a boy dead, his parents and a sister hospitalized and two other sisters living with grandparents.
Shelli Knipp told WYKT-TV (http://bit.ly/RL5e20) that the victims, who lived nearby, were her husband's cousins. She says the parents, James and Lottie Pennington, were able to get their daughters out of the burning home, but they weren't able to reach their son.
Knipp said she is helping to collect gifts and donations for the sisters. She said clothes are being collected by teachers at Rodburn Elementary School, where three of the children attended. In addition, she says a fund for the family has been set up at Whitaker Bank in Morehead.
