MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — A Rowan County jury has recommended concurrent sentences for a man convicted in a double murder.
WLEX-TV (http://bit.ly/VUG3Lm ) reported jurors returned their recommendation late Tuesday night after earlier convicting Ronald Fairchild of two counts of murder, robbery and burglary. The will of the jury means Fairchild would serve a maximum of 25.5 years. The crimes could have brought the death penalty or a life prison term.
Fairchild was convicted in the 2005 Fleming County killing of Marlene Mauk and Donald Walker in Walker's home. He will be sentenced in February.
Two other men — Rodney Dodson and Jason Jackson — earlier pleaded guilty to murder charges and will be sentenced on Friday.
