WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) — Authorities in Winchester say a woman who has dementia has returned home safely after being missing overnight in cold weather.
WKTY-TV (http://bit.ly/10NAWN3 ) in Lexington reported 73-year-old Betty Schmidt was discovered missing Monday night from the home of relatives, where she lives. Police said Schmidt came back to the home about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and said she had gone to an abandoned house in the area. Temperatures early Tuesday were in the mid-30s.
Family members said Schmidt is showing signs of Alzheimer's disease. She recently moved in with her family and is not familiar with the neighborhood.
