PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — A construction company is expected to begin digging the foundations for the new Murray State Paducah campus.

WPSD-TV in Paducah reports (http://bit.ly/Sose2Q) A&K Construction recently won an $8 million contract to start work on the project. The digging is set to begin Monday.

The new building will replace the current Murray State campus in Paducah, the Crisp Center.

The city of Paducah, McCracken County, Paducah Economic Development and Murray State University formed a partnership to secure the funding for the project.

The campus is expected to be complete by December 2013.
