MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Division of Forestry officials say an eastern Kentucky man has died after being found near his home with burns over most of his body.
WLEX-TV (http://bit.ly/XhBiN3) reports officials think 64-year-old Robert Childress suffered the burns while trying to get an out-of-control debris fire near his residence in Rockcastle County contained.
Officials say crews were dispatched on Thursday to a report of a brushfire after smoke was noticed from the air. Upon arriving, they found Childress, who was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital where he was pronounced dead Friday morning.
Official say the death is being classified as an accident.
