KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A jury has been shown the garbage can where a Knoxville woman was left to die after she and her boyfriend were kidnapped, raped and tortured.
The evidence was presented Tuesday at the trial of Vanessa Coleman of Lebanon, Ky., who's charged with helping three men in the 2007 attack that killed 21-year-old Channon Christian.
WATE-TV (http://bit.ly/ZL5ldy ) reported Christian's father, Gary, became visibly distraught when the trash bin was brought into court.
Christian's mother, Deena, testified about searching for her daughter when she didn't return from a date and the shock of learning she was killed.
Coleman was previously convicted in the case but won a new trial because the first judge was impaired by drug use. Coleman was acquitted of charges in the death of Christian's boyfriend, Christopher Newsom.
