RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Israel has prevented high-level diplomatic delegations from Indonesia, Cuba, Malaysia and Bangladesh from entering the West Bank from Jordan.

Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor says they were denied entry because their countries don't have diplomatic ties with Israel.

The delegations were to head to the West Bank on Sunday to support a Palestinian bid to win U.N. General Assembly recognition of an observer state of Palestine. In all, 12 delegations representing member states of the Non-Aligned Movement were to meet in Ramallah. The other eight delegations are from countries that have ties with Israel.

The Palestinian hosts canceled the meeting in response. Indonesia and Malaysia were being represented by their foreign ministers.

Israel controls the crossings into the West Bank.
