SEATTLE (AP) — A 16-year-old Washington girl thought to have been abducted from her home has been found safe, hours after an Amber Alert was issued.
The Mason County sheriff's office had issued the alert Wednesday morning after Vivian Gaspar-Guerrero's parents said she was her missing from their home west of Shelton, Wash. Her room was in disarray, with the window left open.
She was later found an area northeast of Shelton, where a former boyfriend lived.
A sheriff's official says Gaspar-Guerrero had cut the screen in her bedroom window and took off.
Chief Criminal Deputy Dean Byrd says the girl's former boyfriend immediately called deputies and was not involved in the girl's disappearance.
