LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Metro's Meals on Wheels program cares for more than a thousand seniors every year and more volunteers are needed to continue that generous work.
The organization serves seniors 60 and older. Most are frail, homebound and unable to prepare their own meals. Meals on Wheels delivers more than 450 hot meals a day, Monday through Friday, which requires about 50 volunteers a day.
Organizers say not only is this a rewarding volunteer service, it could also be a life-saving one.
Senior Nutrition Program Manager Faith Aeilts details more about the need on Good Morning Kentuckiana with Tabnie Dozier.
