Woman, 71, accused in Whitley Co. drive-by

WHITLEY CO., Ky. (COURIER-JOURNAL) -- Police in Whitley County arrested a 71-year-old woman accused of shooting a pistol toward a home near the Rockholds community last week.

Julia Miller was arrested on Friday and faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, according to a release from the Whitley County Sheriff's Office.

Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, the department responded to a residence on Whetstone Road on a report of shots fired, the release said. The responding officer located a bullet in a window pane of the home. No one was injured.

The owner of the home identified Miller as a suspect. The officer located Miller and found five bullet casings and a Ruger .22 caliber pistol in her vehicle.

Miller was booked into the Whitley County Detention Center around 6 p.m. Friday, court records show. She was released on Saturday on her own recognizance.
