Everyone is welcome at this event that teaches about computer science and coding using problem solving and critical thinking.
It runs from 9 a.m. until noon on December 9 at the Jaeger Education Center (502 Wood Road in Louisville, Ky.)
Holiday Lights and Décor Show
The 29th annual Christmas Gift and Décor Show is happening December 8, 9 and 10 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Over 750 exhibitor booths featuring all things Christmas. Plus, Santa will be on site to take free pictures all weekend.
Admission is free. The event runs from 10 am. Until 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Snacks with Santa
Children of all ages will enjoy snacks and Santa at the Vintage Fire Museum (723 Spring Street in Jeffersonville, Ind.) In addition to seeing the collection of firefighting equipment dating back to 1756, kids can get a picture with Santa and check out the antique fire truck toy exhibit.
The event runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on December 9. Admission for adults is $6, and tickets for children ages 3-15 are just $2.
Olde Thyme Christmas Dog Costume Contest
Barkstown Road on Frankfort Avenue in Louisville is hosting a holiday dog costume contest! Registration for the contest starts at 11 a.m. The best-dressed dogs will win prizes, and then the Holiday Dog Walk will begin at noon!
‘Take What You Can Tote' Giveaway
The 5th annual "Take What You Can Tote" Clothing Giveaway put on by the 15th District PTA will take place December 9. No school uniforms will be given away, but plenty of other clothing will be up for grabs. Toys are available, as well, for any local family who needs them. Families are limited to four large bags of clothing, and those bags will be provided.
Clothing is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. It will take place at the Clothing Assistance Program office inside Central High School football stadium. The giveaway will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., or until the clothes run out.
The Umpteenth Annual $20 Art Show
Over 30 artists will gather at Copper & Kings (1121 E. Washington Street in Louisville) to offer their work for just $20 - no more, no less. Many of these artists are offering one of a kind pieces at this low price, so be sure to get there early!
The event starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m.
Holiday help for hurricane victims
You can help those affected by Hurricane Harvey this holiday season. Family Day Ministries in Bullitt County is asking for gifts and supplies that they can bring to Houston. Organizers say they will bring between $25 and $30 thousand worth of brand new items for families in need.
The drive runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on December 9, and the church is located in Shepherdsville, Ky.
