Threat from Kentucky causes canceled classes at Maranacook Schools

READFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — No classes will be held at Maranacook Middle School and Maranacook Community High School in Readfield due to a safety threat.

According to RSU 38's Facebook page, middle school and high school students along with staff are being told not to come to school Tuesday, Nov 28, because classes have been canceled.  After school activities have also been canceled.

Elementary schools in Readfield will have class Tuesday. 

Administrators say they received a threat on social media and after a police investigation, the threat was found to be made by a Madison County High School student in Kentucky. 

The initials of the the Kentucky student's high school and Maranacook Community High School are both MCHS. 

The administration still decided to cancel school because of the "nature of the threat". 

Administrators say police are working to make sure the school campuses are safe.
