Sunday vigil will honor 1969 starvation victim

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A vigil is planned for Sunday in honor of a young boy who died in 1969 of starvation.

Mayor Greg Fischer will lead a community gathering at the site of the death of Bobby Ellis.

After Ellis died of starvation an anti-hunger movement was sparked, creating Dare to Care Food Bank.

The memorial vigil will start at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Louisville Urban League.

The group will then walk one mile to the site of Ellis' death and will then have an interfaith service.
