Students to leave gloves, hats around neighborhood for those in need

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) – Johnson Traditional Middle School students have been collecting hundreds of warm winter scarfs, hats and gloves and on December 18, they will tie the items around fences, poles and sign posts in the neighborhood.

It’s part of the school’s Warm Winter Drive, and the goal is to place these items so that anyone who needs them can have access to them as they walk throughout the neighborhood.

The project was organized by the school’s Discovery Team, which includes students who have special needs. The students have collected more than 600 items and have mixed and matched the items to make complete sets.

Each set will be attached together with plastic tags and will read: “I’m not lost, if you are cold, take me. I’ll keep you warm. Warm wishes this holiday season, Johnson Traditional Students.”
