LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Story Avenue Park over in the Butchertown neighborhood is getting a major makeover.
Metro Parks said that between the ramp off I-64 and Adams Street will be transformed into a park that celebrates the Butchertown area.
The design by the Urban Design Studio will move the existing basketball court and playground and add a walking path along with a new multi-purpose space.
"It's also going to be expanded, so it'll kind of be a stage area. So if they want to do a band, a concert, a farmers market, an art fair or anything of the such to bring neighbors into the park, it's going to be there," Asst. Director of Metro Parks Marty Storch said.
Much of the project is going to be funded by the neighborhood and local businessmen.
Metro Parks hopes to begin work late summer or early fall with the hopes of completing the project within a year.
