Update: Others fall victim to local home improvement scam

Original Story: Don't fall victim to a home repair scam

(WHAS11) - There has been more fallout from WHAS11’s story about home repair rip offs, and how to protect yourself from becoming a victim.

The man who many people say scammed them out of money apparently has been doing this kind of thing for a long time.

WHAS11's Andy Treinen continues to follow the story.

The contractors name is John McQueen, and he's currently under review by the Attorney General's office.  When WHAS11 put his picture on the screen, and mentioned Champion Construction, we got a number of calls from people saying they too have been scammed.

One of them dates all the way back to 1993 and looks remarkably like the story we just covered.

All claim shoddy or incomplete work and a dispute over finances.

McQueen told WHAS11 on the phone that singling out a few of the hundred's of homes he's contracted “isn't fair”.

Andy offered to interview and include any of his satisfied customers in our next story, but he never called back.

Since our story aired last week at least three more people have filed complaints with the Attorney General’s office about problems with Champion Construction.

So how can they continue to do business in the state of Kentucky?

It's a good question and one that we've posed to the Attorney General's office, and the Secretary of State's office

When we get an answer we'll pass it along to you.
