Joe Biden speaks in southern Indiana about struggling economy
12:01 PM EDT on Thursday, September 25, 2008
(WHAS11) - Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden spent the day touring battleground states, including spending some time in southern Indiana, talking about the economy.
Biden scrapped a speech he had prepared for the event near the Ohio River for one about the ongoing crisis in the American economy. Biden spoke to a crowd of about 600 people for around 30 minutes.
The Democrats are trying to win the state of Indiana for the first time since 1964. Recent polls have shown the race between Barack Obama and John McCain to be in a near dead heat.
McCain says he wants to delay the presidential debate this Friday because of the nation's economic crisis. Mccain says he wants President Bush to convene a leadership meeting in Washington, which would include Mccain and Obama. So far, the debate is still scheduled for Friday.
