10:28 AM EDT on Saturday, November 1, 2008
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Gov. Steve Beshear said Friday his administration is looking to help low-income Kentuckians find free prescription drugs.
Beshear says the Cabinet for Health and Family Services is coordinating with the Kentucky Prescription Assistance Program. It’s aimed at using existing programs to get free pharmaceuticals that drug companies offer.
Kentucky lawmakers have appropriated $1 million over the next two years to help coordinate the state’s plan to get low-income residents the prescription drugs they need. The program is expected to be fully launched by March.
