And for the first time, the federal government recommends that children get a flu shot.

Several states are already reporting early flu outbreaks. Kentucky and Indiana have no reported flu cases yet, but at a flu shot clinic that took place at Slugger Field, no one wanted to take any chances that they would be the first.

Children ages 6 months to 19 years old aren’t the only ones considered “high risk” by the CDC.

They also say that pregnant women, people over fifty years old, those with certain medical conditions, nursing home patients, and people who work with high risk groups like healthcare workers or teachers should all get vaccinated for the flu this year.
