three words, LAZY A#@ COPS...

Traffic violations and speeding everywhere. If Louisville needs to balance budget, just sit near school districts and write tickets

It's also one of the most discourtious.

take a look at all the drivers that end up in the median when it rains around here.

IF YOUR LMPD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, because our citizens are idiots. A few helpful hints: don't drive slowly in the left lane, use your turn signal, hang up and drive, no texting, move with traffic even if it's going faster than you want to, pull into the parking lot before looking for a space, don't run red lights, go when the light turns green, know where you're going before you leave home, move over if someone wants to pass you (it's not personal), if you have the Yield sign it means YOU yield, in snow don't drive 5 mph or too fast, give motorcycles and bicycles extra room. Driving is serious business. Pay full attention at all times.

When you compare to some of the other big cities it is safe. There is a problem with people signaling lane changes and being rude on letting people merge. As far as the complaint about school buses on the road I am a driver and we are instructed to stay out of the left hand lanes and to allow a 4 second following distance between vehicles. Also, buses should be running at the speed limit or 5 miles less but not over. If you see a bus speeding or tailgating or hanging in the left hand lane then you need to record the bus number and call into transportation dept so they can address the driver because we are hauling other people's children and they are precious cargo the same as they would be our own children.

I never see the police enforcing anything. There have been many time when someone speeds up to a yellow light, only to find out that it is red as they plow all the way through the intersection. They never indicate and always tailgate other drivers. They need to get their heads out of their (fill in blank). It is way too easy to obtain a drivers license. Test people on a real road or freeway. Not on some little tricycle course. They should also retest people every 5 to 10 years.

I recently moved here from Las Vegas NV. I have driven in at least 12 different states and this one is the worst! I don't know if it is the NARROW streets or the fact that people don't use their blinkers, but I constantly see accidents.

Anybody who thinks that driving in Louisville is a hassle, ought to try living in New England for a while. I am from Connecticut and miss living in such a beautiful place, but I don't miss tailgating drivers on the higways. Some even flash there lights to tell you to get out of the way... They won't let you change lanes very easily, and they will drive in a breakdown lane to get out of a traffic jam.... Although I must say that I agree with the comment that drivers on the east side are rude.... I guess money tends to makes some people self-important and inconsiderate behind the wheel... It was the same way in Connecticut.

NO! I can not put enough exclamation marks behind that no. I've lived in many places as a former military brat and have been driving for 22 years and I've never had an accident when it was the other driver's fault until I moved to this area and I've been in 4! And the last time, my car was totaled last year when they were having construction on I64. I've also witnessed accidents and been stuck in traffic because of them in this area.

between the people doing 50mph in fast lane (with no intention of getting over), the lack of turn signals, "impulse speed" (50mph, 70mph, 50mph, 70mph), and the fact that despite living here - no one seems to know which exit they need to get off on until they are 50 feet from it and they are in the fast lane... louisville is pretty safe for drivers. these people would be run off the road were they driving back east...

Change all the billboards around town to read:
Use Your Turn Signals, Morons!!!

I agree with all the comments posted. I will also admit that I drive way to fast on Gene Snyder, only to avoid being ran over from the person behind me. Funny how Metro police will tailgate you going 75, and as soon as you move over, you see a blur. Guess they are in a hurry to wreck another patrol car.

HELL NO!! and i'm a ''Louisville driver'' in NYC, they give citations and tickets to drivers with cell phones in thier head.. so if they wanted to build the new arena, there you go. No common courtesy, no turn signals, tailgating, torn up streets, dumbassed drivers that shoud'nt have a drivers liscence..

I really think this is a very scary place to drive. I have never seen so many abandoned vehicles sitting on major roads for weeks at a time. People driving in their pick-up trucks, on major highways with loaded with unsecured possessions, just waiting to fly of their trucks and cause a major accident. Do people from Louisville know that their vehicles have a thing called a turn signal? Everyone is on their cell phone usually while trying to juggle a cigarette and drink in the other hand. I think you take your life in your hands driving in Louisville.

I have over 3 million miles of safe driving a truck and I gotta say here in louisville are some of the worst and uncairing drivers in the USA with the exeption of DC and NYC turn singles dont exist and road rage is common the east end drivers think there sht dont stink the south end are just plain stupid and in the west end all the people dont care because they dont own a home and have no insurance and are high on crack i drive a armoured 1 ton dually its only thing i feel safe in !!

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME
heck the police alone set a fine example, just drive the Watterson and you wil see.just last night i had a police officer,no lights tailgate me for about 3 miles the blast past me at at least 90mph.

No Louisville isnt the safest place to drive. I agree that people here dont signal and drive too fast. However, being from the Detroit area-the drivers here are great. As for the police force-why dont you people that are bad mouthing the police go out and try to do their jobs for a day. The police force here is undermanned and overworked. The police force has a traffic division that is responsible for handling traffic violators while the other officers answer police calls. If you want more traffic officers than you should be writing the mayor not bad mouthing the men and women who place their lives in danger for us each and every day. If the police are so bad then remember that the next time someone tries breaking into your car or home and dont waste the police officers time.

I don't think that anyone in Kentucky can actually drive !
