'Tree-cycling' program mulches Christmas trees
08:19 PM EST on Monday, December 25, 2006
If you have a real Christmas tree sitting in your home, it’s time to start thinking about where you’ll dispose of it.
Metro Louisville has set up four “tree-cycling” centers where trees will be recycled into mulch. The program is free.
If you live in the urban services district, you can leave your tree at the curb starting Dec. 26.
You can also take your tree to one of four locations, which will be open Dec. 27, 28, 29, and Jan. 2, 3 and 4, from 10 am to 5 pm.
Those locations are the recycling centers at 595 Hubbards Ln. and 7219 Dixie Hwy., the public works yard at 3528 Newburg Rd., and the waste reduction center at 636 Meriwether Ave.
For more information about the city’s “tree-cycling” program, you can call Metro Call at 311.
