Prevoius story: Gift cards "lost" at the post office
(WHAS11) - The Louisville Post Office says they have piles of gift cards that didn't get to their destination over the holidays.
It is US Postal Service policy to destroy articles like gift cards when they become separated from envelopes during sorting.
Yesterday we estimated the number of loose gift cards at the post office was in the hundreds. An audit today reveals that number is closer to 150.
Since the original story aired yesterday, the Louisville Main Post Office says they have reunited 22 gift cards to the intended recipients, and are working hard to return more.
If you're missing mail, you can call 800-ASK-USPS and provide any identifying information, such as names on a gift card and denominations.
In the future, the post office suggests using a padded envelope for gift cards.
