Troy Gentry accused of killing tame bear
06:39 PM EDT on Thursday, August 17, 2006
Montgomery Gentry is the paid concert tonight at Freedom Hall. One half of that country duo, Troy Gentry, is in trouble with the law.
He’s been indicted for allegedly shooting a black bear. Authorities say Gentry bought the tame bear, named Cubby, from a wildlife photographer and hunting guide. That’s when they say he and another man killed the animal.
Authorities say the pair tagged Cubby as a wild kill then edited a videotape of the killing to make it look like they snagged the bear in a fair chase.
