79-year-old Cecil Jaggers was killed. Police say he was doing grass work at the front of his home when he was struck by an SUV. Police say the vehicle than lost control and veered into ditch.
Meanwhile, investigators are exploring whether the driver’s medical condition was a factor.
“The detectives have been able to determine, perhaps through interviewing her, that the medical condition was diabetic in nature,” Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said.
“I did see the ambulance bringing her out on a stretcher and I saw them carrying a small child. The child seemed to be unharmed,” neighbor Shirley Powers said.
The identity of the driver has not been revealed. Both she and her 3-year-old daughter were transferred to the hospital.
