Drug enforcement officers hope a large bust will put a dent in the trafficking of ecstasy in Louisville.
Wednesday night, drug enforcement administration officials seized over 5,000 ecstasy pills, just one of several other similar busts in recent months.
They say the large quantity of ecstasy seems to be concentrated in Louisville’s Vietnamese community.
“Due to the several arrests, we've gained quite a bit of intelligence about the ecstasy trafficking groups, how they're operating, how they're bringing them in,” says Tony King of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
A 29-year old Vietnamese man was arrested in this latest bust. King says the investigation has been going on for over a year and that the trafficking extends east to Lexington and west to Evansville, Ind.
Officers say the pills come in all shapes and sizes and are manufactured to appeal to youth.
