It’s a political tit for tat
08:16 PM EDT on Tuesday, May 13, 2008
(WHAS11) - One candidate is accusing another of stealing political signs and sticking them in the trash.
It’s a political tit for tat in the republican battle for a council seat in Louisville’s 18th district.
Jon Ackerson put his political signs up last weekend. He says he’s had several reports of them being stolen. Fred warren says Ackerson signs were taken from his yard twice.
Ackerson says political opponents have stolen his signs in previous races.
His opponent in this race is Ellen Reitmeyer.
Reitmeyer lives in a condominium complex with a common garbage area. Everyone has access to these cans, and no one who lives here is assigned a specific can.
So sign-gate continues. Ackerson calls it disheartening, Reitmeyer calls it shocking. Both have filed complaints with the police department.
I thought it was creepy. It’s really inappropriate for a candidate to show up on another candidate’s property at six o’clock in the morning”
Both candidates are running for the district 18 seat on council being vacated by Julie Adams.
Reitmeyer is her long time assistant.
By the way, Reitmeyer is being sworn in tonight as the vice chair of the local Republican Party.
