Beshear’s chief of staff tied to Frankfort lobbyist

04:56 PM EST on Tuesday, January 6, 2009

(WHAS11) - One thing that will not be brought up during Kentucky’s 2009 Legislative session, if Governor Steve Beshear has anything to do with it, is rumored impropriety on the part of his chief of staff.

Adam Edelen shares ownership in some Lexington properties with Frankfort lobbyist Bob Babbage.

The Governor says it’s not an issue. Beshear says Edelen told him about the relationship before he was hired and disclosed his business dealings to the state ethics commission.

Beshear says his chief of staff shouldn’t be required to sever his ties to the lobbyist.
