Local detective, attorney receive national award
08:38 PM EST on Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Louisville Metro detective and a local attorney are getting national attention for their work with crimes against children.
The National Law Center for Children and Families was in Louisville to proclaim Detective Dan Jackman and Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann Claire Phillips as the organizations Defenders of the Month.
The two received the award for their work on a child porn case in which they worked with the public library.
Police say a suspect was using the Internet at the library to receive child pornography.
Both say they are honored by the award and the national center is also a great learning tool.
"The new devices, If you come to a crime scene how do you handle them? The proper handling of electronic evidence is important, because sometimes it's temperamental," says Detective Jackman. "If you mishandle the evidence, you've just lost everything right there."
This is the first time the awards have been given out in Louisville.Forums, Photos & More
