Survey USA: Indiana's 9th district congressional race

12:35 PM EST on Friday, November 3, 2006

It's the first time any independent poll has Mike Sodrel ahead in the 9th district congressional race in southern Indiana.  And it looks like the Libertarian candidate could be a big factor in that race.

The WHAS11/Survey USA poll shows Sodrel and Hill are just as close as their last two elections.

The Republican Sodrel is leading Hill 46 to 44, well within the margin of error.  It's Eric Schansberg, the Libertarian candidate, who could decide that race.

The poll shows Schansberg with five percent with most of his support coming from liberals, apparently pulling support from the Democrat Hill.

Survey results:

If the election for U.S. House of Representatives were today, and you were standing in the voting booth right now, who would you vote for? Republican Mike Sodrel? Democrat Baron Hill? Libertarian Eric Schansberg? Or some other candidate?
