911 Dispatcher meets baby he helped deliver via an emergency call

07:27 PM EDT on Saturday, June 28, 2008

WHAS11 News

911 dispatcher, Marty Wagner, got a call in the early morning hours and ended-up up talking a father through delivering his own baby.  Today, the Metrosafe dispatcher met, for the first time, the baby he helped deliver.

Baby grace is 3-weeks-old today, but her parents say they don’t know how they would have done it without the help of Marty Wagner.  He was working when the couple called 911 that night and minutes after the call, before EMS could arrive, baby Grace was born in the couple’s bathroom.

Wagner says this is the second delivery he’s talked someone through on the phone, but he’s had many “close calls.”
