LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11)--A business owner in Smoketown is set to go in front of a state board for a license to bring a liquor store to the area.
People who live in Smoketown are pushing back against the plan.
The two proposed liquor store locations are on East Broadway and east Gray St. just feet apart.
After a series of letters and complaints, the city denied the liquor license for both A-Z and East Coast Liquors.
However, the business owners filed an appeal with the state.
Residents say another liquor store will not be good for their community.
The hearing for East Coast Liquors is set for 1 p.m. Thursday in Frankfort.
The hearing for A-Z liquors has been pushed back to February 2018.
