Shively man arrested after leaving behind incriminating note

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Shively man is in jail tonight after leaving his personal information in a note on the vehicle he's accused of stealing.

Police say they arrested Robert Garth after receiving a call about an abandoned vehicle. When they arrived, they discovered the SUV was reported stolen from Hertz Rental Cars.

On the dash, they found a note saying the vehicle was there because of mechanical issues, requesting it not be towed. The note also had an address and a phone number on it.

Officers called the number, which went directly to Garth.

He's now facing several charges including receiving stolen property.
