Sen. Paul returns to work after assault left him with 6 broken ribs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Senator Rand Paul is back at work in Washington D.C. after police said his neighbor attacked him 10 days ago. Sen. Paul suffered 6 broken ribs.

Police said Sen. Paul’s neighbor, Rene Boucher, attacked him while he was mowing his lawn in Bowling Green. An argument over leaf clippings is said to be the reason behind the attack.

Boucher is now charged with 4th-degree assault. He pleaded not guilty in court last week.

"Kelley and I want to thank everyone once again for your thoughts and prayers for my recovery. While I'm still in a good deal of pain, I will be returning to work in the Senate today, ready to fight for liberty and help move forward with tax cuts in the coming days and weeks,” Sen. Paul said on Twitter.
