Rally for Recovery celebrates sobriety

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Several groups celebrated those who are overcoming substance abuse in the community.

Held at the Muhammad Ali Center, the Recovery for Rally serves to celebrate individuals who have achieved long-term recovery whether they have been sober for one year or one day.

Organizers say the event was family oriented because when someone is going through recovery, they are not going through it alone.

“It’s really important sometimes. People don’t know how to have fun without using. It’s important to all come together and have a big party together – have a sober party together and have fun,” organizer Amanda Newton said.

The Rally for Recovery not only celebrated those who are recovering but honored the lives of those lost to substance abuse.
