Police Chiefs across U.S. meeting in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police chiefs from across the country are converging on the city this week to talk about community relations.

Bridging the gap between community and police has been the topic of departments nationwide after recent shootings.

Organizer Alan Powell says this is just the beginning of an open dialogue with the community.

“Being a native of Louisville, it feels good to try and bring something of substance back home in my community they may be able to take advantage of and hopefully it’s a building block,” he said.

The Bridge Forum, an invite-only event, takes place on Friday.

Powell says the information will be available for the public to view at TheBridgeForum.com.
