Police arrest suspect after boy shot during neighborhood prank

Police have arrested 56-year-old Michael Bishop and charged him with attempted murder.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS)- A Louisville man is charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a 12-year-old boy in his neighborhood Monday night

Police arrested Michael Bishop, 56, at his home on Hall Farm Drive in the Glenmary subdivision at 4 a.m. Tuesday, about six hours after the shooting.

Police believe that the victim, Jacob Eberle, was one of a group of boys ringing door bells in the neighborhood then running away.

Neighbors say Eberle is in the intensive care unit at Kosair children's hospital but is expected to recover.

One neighbor tells WHAS11 News that Eberle's right back shoulder was riddled with buckshot and that he was bleeding from his head after the shooting.

Neighbors say Eberle ran about 100 yards after he was shot. He was treated by police and paramedics in the front yard of a home on Kendrick Crossing Drive.
