Peace walks scheduled for Portland neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – As communities continue to look for ways to curb increasing violence, Metro Police and residents will continue monthly peace walks.

The Portland neighborhood will have their first peace walk on Sep. 8 at 26th and Rowan Streets. That walk is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The second walk is scheduled for Sep. 20 at 6 p.m., kicking off at 22nd and Lytle Streets.

The goal of the walks initiated by LMPD Chief Steve Conrad is to build positive relationships between officers and the residents they serve.

If you happen to see crime in your community, you are always asked to call 574-LMPD.
